From their family to yours Paloroma was founded by Jane and Giancarlo, parents to Roman and Paloma. After discovering their son had eczema they were shocked that their dermatologist's suggestions were often packed with unpronounceable ingredients. So they set off to create products activated by natural soothers such as oatmeal, chamomile and shea butter to take care of their son's skin. All of Paloroma products are free of parabens, phthalates, silicones, sulfates, dyes, petrolatum, and fragrances. Why is that important? We absorb 60 to 80 per cent of what we put on our skin and this is especially true for children who are like sponges - we all know how well they can repeat what they hear ... - so it's even more important to know what we're lathering them in. Our children's barrier - which helps block chemicals from penetrating brain tissues - is not fully formed until a child is 6 months old so their skin is an average of 30% thinner than adults, absorbing more of what comes in contact with it. The EPA - United States Environmental Protection Agency has said that carcinogens are typically 10 times more potent for babies. Unfortunately the regulators for cosmetics have been slow to adapt which has led to some recent outcry. Phtalates have for example come under particular scrutiny recently because of their harm to children, including potentially damaging their reproductive system. Although phthalates are mostly found in plastic they are also in many skincare products because they are used to render a given colour or fragrance. Cosmetics produced in the US are however not always obliged to disclose their ingredient list as it can be considered a "trade secret" so it can be hard to tell which products to be wary from. Why do we love Paloroma ? It's gentle and soothing and we can finally rub them from top to toe with these products. And if it's good enough for them ... join the parents who are also using Paloroma products for themselves.
